If (and you can't tell from the article) this was a classic 'dooring' in a cycle lane next to parked cars the I'd welcome her suing the LA that built it. Luring inexperienced cyclist into the door zone has to be irresponsible.

From the description it sounds like the cycle lane outside Waterstones which as you can see from the link is that unpleasant sort of lane between parked vehicles and the rest of the road.

To be honest, the traffic is usually slow so on Chiswick High Road that primary position is easy to take and doesn't hold up anyone else. Obviously the 'helpful' cycle lane is there to tempt inexperienced cyclists into dangerous road positions.
