That's a big cassette on the back. I know there's no 22 ring but Leadville must be very steep for him to need those ratios.

Steep and it's at high altitude too, so I'd guess it's hard going.

Yeah true, altitude does make a big difference.

When I was mtb'ing in the mountains in Canada (5500ft base, up to 9000ft), I felt like I'd just started cycling again I was getting out of breath so quickly.

yummy, great looking and i am sure works perfectly too. i have sram and it is far better ime than shimnao for mtb work.

Ran support for this race back in the mid-90's once. These guys aren't human. Another good one is Montezuma's Revenge. Which sadly appears to be struggling these days....
