talking of bad sequels... Highlander 2, 3, 4, 5... and according to wikipedia, a remake of the original will begin shooting this year.

Wasn't the Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart the third attempt at telling that story on film too?
Watched that recently. Couldn't believe how dreadful it was. Especially given the reverence in which it's held. Sort of 'Citizen Kane' stylie.

Do you like classics then ?
I cant see how they can remake To have and have not any better , Bacall positively sizzles !

Bacall always sizzles... and the chemistry between her and Humphrey is something to behold in the films they both star... it's clear they fancy the ass off each other. :smooch:

As far as British dramas go....Shan Ritchie as Arthur Daley(insulting). Ray(one dimensional) Winstone as Jack Reagan. Probably worst of all though was Plan B as George Carter.

You're in luck then, as it does have Nimoy in.
It is really good, especially Karl Urban as Bones.

Hmm. I may have to give it a chance then.

I heard that they massacred The Texas Chainsaw Massacre too.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacres have failed for a fairly obvious reason: gallons of blood. The original was so effective because it played on the fear of the unseen. The reboots lacked this subtlety, though that's a problem with many modern day horror efforts.

I'd say they pushed their luck with Home Alone 2....

They were pushing it with the first one IMO. Dreadful film. The only film I've enjoyed the dubious talents of Mr. Culkin in was Party Monster.

As long as Bladerunner is safe from a remake i will survive.

Michael Bay is rumoured to be at the helm of a prequel. God help us. His fetish for blowing everything up would ruin the legacy of a considered and near perfect sci-fi film.

I dunno, Prometheus was a big pile of garbage, but it doesn't stop Alien or Aliens from both being great films.

Fair point. However, I separated Prometheus from the Alien world quite easily, despite the obvious reasons not to.

My mind works in mysterious ways...

I've realised that I missed Terminator off my original list of ruined series. Terribly sorry for that oversight!
