I used to run a rugby web site which, at the start, brought supporters of all English Premiership clubs together and through it I met many top people.

Over the years the posts got more condescending and pernickerty and I gave up. Some people saw it as an opportunity to "prove" that they were superior to other mortals in one way or another.

I like it here, I'm not ridiculed for my lack of knowledge (e.g. the thread on shoes started the other week which came up with an answer which was the shoes I already own) and people are helpful and friendly.

Long may it continue.

You don't pop in to Shedweb occasionally do you?

I belong to a running forum, but any cyclists on it are quite triathlon oriented. CC was the cycling forum that seemed to be as friendly as that one. I'm on the wrong continent though. ;)

To be honest, you’ve not really plumbed the depths of human depravity and corruption until you’ve been a regular poster on watcher of a Harry Potter forum film

Hate, venom and madness infected use net and the news groups that predate WWW forums.

uk.rec.cycling used to be a vibrant news group and it survives as a google group

A sample of the tedious bilge that caused me to abandon it years ago can be sampled here
