OOhh DC /bats fan here too
Used to play City of heroes MMORPG till kids put paid to all my spare time , never done any dressing up though ....i tell a lie i wear skin tight clothes every day whilst pumping my legs at great speed .
^_^

You do know they're closing down COH, right? So sad!
Big Batman/DC fan, especially with some serious dark artwork (see Jim Lee, Dave McKean, Brian Bollan etc)! Used to have a good collection of graphic novels and a great variety of comics, most of them (as well as almost all my books) I had to leave behind when I moved to England. Keep bringing some back with me every time I visit and slowly building up again, but I have to sneak them in as I get told off (for being immature and not acting my age and that..)

I used to enter into arguments on other sites about the usual things, then some poster seemed to move from arguing to threatening. He gave it the I'll come hunting for you" and other abuse so i decided to only post on sites where everyone agrees with me. Or i just post my opinions then leave it at that instead of responding to opposing sometimes aggressive posts that play on your mind, therefore taking the enjoyment out of posting in the first place.

I think we might have been trolled. The op has been conspicuous by his lack of communication since his first post. Perhaps CC has been boycotted.

Perhaps I should have said I have boycotted all other forums apart from this one, as many others have said it is a largely friendly crowd. Also, I don't have much time to post on forums all the time. My main point was that I get annoyed when you are posting about a certian topic in good faith (usually asking advice as a "noob") and several people think that this is the time for them to throw non-constructive criticism around. it's a bit like the school playground. We all start off in the first year, but there are always those who reach the second year and then start to bully the first years for being new.

I don't really know what being "trolled" is all about. I have heard it defined as someone who takes a comment that you made and uses it out of context to gain either fame or personal enjoyment. It is rather silly when you consider that most people would be too scared to do this in a face-to-face situation.

So far CarlP, both your comments have been sarcastic, but I am not offended becasue you might have been saying it with your tongue in your cheek, or indeed someone else's!

I like CC, ees friendly, ees nice.

Just ignore anyone you don't like, never get into arguments unless you enjoy it (I've never known anyone to change anyone else's mind, even a bit), and Don't Feed the Trolls (which is to say, people who post purely to generate a reaction).

It isn't called boycott, even i didn't post anything for the past couple of weeks, not by choice, but because of lack of time:laugh:

Sarcastic, Moi? Well how dare you? I bet you'd walk into Marks & Spencer's and shout ASDA. You'll be calling me pretentious next!

I'm never coming back here again.

I used to be a mod on a football forum and in comparison CycleChat is a breeze.

I was a staffer on a large music site (that has since died) and the forums were remarkable, and remarkably difficult to moderate, which is probably why the site died! Mind you the staff did have a nice sense of humour; if someone prone to be argumentative they'd be given the custom title of 'needs a fiddle'.

CycleChat is a nice light breezy place by comparison, even the commuting and current affairs sections aren't too bad really, they follow an easy to read format of:
  1. Claim made
  2. Claim refuted
  3. A lot of crud that you can scroll past
  4. More chatter
  5. Harsher claim made
  6. The fun bits where people start getting personal while claiming they're not getting personal
  7. The even more fun bits where the people who say they won't be provoked say so by reacting in a provoked manner
  8. Someone makes an inappropriate joke
  9. More personal bitterness
  10. Thread gets locked
  11. Everyone forgets about it and goes back to talking about things vaguely cycle related

This is the only forum I go on, regularly (occasionally look for advice on computer and android forums, but don't contribute to them other than that). I used to go on a very friendly music site, but stopped some time ago. So, my experience of forums is largely positive... great advice and laughs on here, and I have an outlet for my juvenile sense of humour that my job does not offer me.

Really ? I never noticed. ^_^

It's the only forum I use too. In fact I think it's the only one I've ever joined.

There are plenty of comments I read that I am tempted to disagree with and argue the toss over but I really don't have the time, nor really, the inclination. Sometimes do, but I lose interest pdq.
It's a friendly place and very welcoming which explains why it has as many members as it does.

Ooooo yes,we all know that;)

The only problem I have with this site is the signature area. I do a lot of graphics and have been teaching it for 5 years and it would be amazing if we could express ourselves through our signature with clip art e.t.c or our own small banner like back in the old days.

You can can't you? If I remember correctly you have to be fairly well established on here before you can have a signature. I could be wrong though.
