I can could count on one hand the times people have been downright rude to me at work in the prior 25 years. Since starting work at a hospital, I run out of fingers by lunchtime every day, but it's the staff being rude to me not the public.
? In what way are they rude to you. I have found some particularly obnoxious nurses in hospital but they are a very small minority. Note while visiting patients and as a patient not working in hospital.

Is yours the second most? Probably the most dismissive anyway.
If the kids are so polite, why is it necessary for the old fellow to demand they move?
Do you usually have to ask, just out of interest?

Stupidest post of the day. Poles, for instance, are generally far more polite and respectful than Brits. In Poland if an old person gets on the tram and youngsters are sat in the elderly seats the old duffer will go up and demand they move. Try that in London.
Meh, sorry you feel that way.
My experience, 3 years working among them is so.
Id agree, Poles are generally more polite, however the majority of our workers are Lithuanian. It goes in waves,15 years ago, Poles were the majority of the immigrant workers. Then we had Afghans, various other smaller groups, lately and strongly, Lithuanians, Latvians and smaller groups from Slovenia etc.
Its not stupid however, it is my experience. Thats not my fault, thats what I see, day in, day out for the last 2 or 3 years. Not exclusively, but definitely a very strong trait.
I hoped the tone of my post didnt display a hatred, fustration etc of east europeans, in fact it didnt, simply highlighted what actually happens in the vast majority of times.
How in the world can that be stupid ? Or is to talk in any dispaging way about others not allowed, even if it's true in my observations.

You said they were rude BECAUSE they were Eastern European. That's daft, it would be just as daft if a Pole claimed people were rude BECAUSE they were from western Europe.

They ( and Eastern Europeans in general) regularly say that the British are lazy and all on the dole. Is that also daft? Personally I am going with xenophobic!!

Does anyone adopt the reverse when they're abroard ?. I do...well I say queue jump, they don't actually queue properly. Egypt for instance, people of many nationalities tended to hang around in a non organised way at the bus stops for instance...as soon as the bus arrived...all would just head straight for the door. So we adopted the same mentality and found we were often the first on. :okay:
There seems to be a sense of order in all that madness. When in Rome I guess applies in these countries.

Cultural norm. I use that thought when at work where you're walking tbrough the busy entrance to the factory..and the door will almost NEVER be held open by the preceding person, because they're 99% east european. Its not personal, they dont hold the door for their own kind, its just not part of their thought process.
One fella the other day did hold the door...fairly took me by surprise.

Oh c'mon, read my original post. At what point did I say they were rude ?...not at ANY point, in words or intimation.
Simply put forward an observation that some dont adhere to what we percieve as polite. Certainly doesn't mean tthey're rude, simply that they dont use the same thought process as 'we' do...generally speaking.
And generally speaking really should be acceptable when, as far as you can remember, in 3 years ONE guy holds open the door and it surprises you, it's that unusual.
