bar end shifters and xt chainset

Do they work ok together without constant faffing about?
Presumably would need a XT triple front derailler?

I'm assuming it will work fine as the front shifter is friction, but if someone is already running this I'd appreciate confirmation.

I have Dura Ace bar end shifters and a XT triple chainset on my Surly Longhaul Trucker that I built up myself. It all works fine and was comparatively simple to set up.

I run Dura Ace bar ends with Deore front mech and chainset. All works silkily smooth.
