I got this a few days ago off a local man. He said it was built by a guy called Barry Bond from near Leicester. It's been resprayed and has no decals but apparently it's 531. It's got very old Dura-Ace bits on, 27" mavic rims and Weinmann brakes.

Anybody know anything about Barry Bond?

Thanks

I have three barry Bond bikes, here is a photo of Barry holding my 531 tourer, the biggest bike he ever made. The photo was taken 2 yrs ago before Mercian did a paint job for me. I got the decals from Barry. I can email photo, I am at richard@wothorpe.com

Got this 1985 Barry Bond 531 Time Trial bike on eBay about a month ago, from the original owner. I'm changing the rims to clinchers but apart from that leaving the lovely bike alone. Richard has said he will pass me Barry's details so that I can get some new decals should I ever need them but I certainly don't at the moment as it is in great condition. Richard also passed me the photo mentioned in the post above, I'll try to post both images below.

Original Ebay purchase plus:

Tubular tyres/rims removed and clincher rims and tyres built on original hubs.

Bar tape, brake hoods/blocks and cables renewed.

6 speed freewheel and chain renewed. (Freewheel changed from 13 - 21 to 14 - 24)

More specifications if anyone is interested and the name of the brilliant bike shop that put it together for me.

Only wish I was as skilled as some of you guys but this is first restoration and it was a great bike to start with.

Obviously I wont be selling it any time soon.

Hi guys, was doing a little browsing on the net and came across this forum. Barry Bond is my Grandpa. He doesn't make bikes anymore although he does have a tinker around with them. He does still have some of his frames etc...it's excellent to see some people appreciating his work. Cheers Jake.
