Are you suggesting that dedicated cycle paths should be gritted? Around this area, due to financial constraints, we are lucky if the bus routes get treated. Anywhere other than bus routes, and you take your chances!

No, i know theres no chance, I just wouldn't have deemed the cyclepath are safer option in ice conditions.

Sorry to read about your accident pal. Thanks for posting though. Sometimes we need a bit of a reality shock now and then .
It certainly woke me up a bit. Very tempted to go out early this morning but the roads had that dreaded sheen on them so I put my bike back .

And random strangers will ask why you're in a neck brace for the next several months. After three you'll likely start making stuff up, eventually perfecting a tale of derring-do.
Tough break, that. Good luck with your recovery.

Get well soon :hugs:
Riding home with broken anything = serious respect!

I once cycled home with a broken fingernail - does that count?

More seriously though It is good to hear that this was not more serious, but cycling home raises a point I always make when I come across an accident.

When you are involved in a crash and are injured the body goes into a full chemical overload - the "fight or flight" syndrome that effectively anaesthatises many injuries allowing you to get home, and then start hurting later when youare in a safe environment

Always take the time to assess yourself properly bearing in mind that the pain will not hit you until later
