I can’t resist an Eastern European supermarket (it’s like being on holiday!) so this evening a Hungarian IPA 4.8 abv and really good, complemented with some French Lays crisps!

My glass collection tends to change every now and then, I've only got the one shelf so if a new one comes along that I like it can only stay if I sacrifice an existing one.

A few of these were free with beer purchases, but most have been liberated from a life of servitude.

Are old-school old-man jars making a comeback or something? They just disappeared sometime around the late 80's. I actually thought they'd been banned for being ridiculously dangerous in a bar fight.

I think it has something to do with cask. The Wiper and True glasses two pictures up were keg and were served in straight glasses. Only the cask ales were served in jugs. My local pub usually asks "jug or straight glass" and when I say I don't mind, the cask nearly always goes into a jug.

Maybe, but I was drinking cask from the mid eighties until I left the country mid nineties, and it was all straight glasses back then - pre craft brewing, obviously

I've not had a Maresdous for years! Best with a bit of their cheese on the side I seem to remember. Mechelin's quite a nice town, Gouden Carolus is from there, Het Anker brewery. They brewed Lucifer, which was eventually acquired By Duvel Moortgat and released as.... Duvel. (yes, I just went on Wikipedia to check I was right it was Gouden Carolus & Het Anker!)

I haven't managed to try that one from the current beer list yet, all of the 'spoons I get in seem to be serving only local brews or Christmas ales at the moment.
