A bit darker than my normal beers, but not bad and sums up December - "Bah Humbug" with no further information as it was on a handwritten pump label. Follows on from a similarly dark pint of Sharp's Sea Fury.

Last night it was a bottle of Hobgoblin Ruby ale from Waitrose on offer,Aldi my normal buying place had none at all bottles or cans nor did they have Harpers Ruby Red which is fantastic.

Whilst I was in Tesco yesterday, stocking up for the journey home, these two jumped in to my trolley.

And I'm glad they did as I love a bit of Helles.

and in an Adnams glass too ? I think its a Hobgoblins/Marstons beer, Ive seen it pop up alot lately, outside of Marstons pubs which hasnt been the case of late.

If it's this one, then the ABV shown certainly matches what was handwritten on the pump label

As for the Adnams glass, the pub has just changed hands and has been supplied by Adnams previously (they still had the pumps but not the beer unfortunately) so it looks like they were using whatever came to hand.

yes it is 4.3% at the moment, but I think it was originally Wychwoods 6.0% bottled beer, might have been 5% in cask or 4.8% something like that, but its Marstons so theyve been dropping the abv, but this is the current pump clip

but did it taste Christmassy  in that way that they havent just produced a red ale, or a beer thats high abv, but that it tasted like Christmas pudding/Christmas cake/mince pies, because theres a bit of cinammon and a banana marzipan flavour to it ? because if so thats absolutely what it was.
