Some of us like our Retro bikes to be real ones not replicas, Hands off our old 531 beauties and get a SS/fixed dedicated frame instead.LFGSS is very much up and running, it can be a bit brutal on the forums but hey ho. As for SS or FG try a flip flop rear hub, both types of gearing have their merits and try not to get caught up in self righteousness of riding fixed no brakes, its not cool and can be dangerous to yourself and others. Any old 531 framed bike from ebay will convert just make sure it has horizontal drop-outs and the rear spacing is compatable with the new hub.

On the other hand if you're planning to keep riding the bike for decades, feel free (cos that's what we'd got planned for em)
But that's what your fixed-wheel traditionally was, the old bike converted for winter use. Some of us like our Retro bikes to be real ones not replicas, Hands off our old 531 beauties and get a SS/fixed dedicated frame instead.

I personally use more gears in winter, if the suns shining I just enjoy being on a bike whereas if its sleeting it down I work harder just to get thereBut that's what your fixed-wheel traditionally was, the old bike converted for winter use.
...on the other hand I have little interest in the 'fixie' craze, I'll hang on to my untrendy fixed-wheel , thanks.
