Not quite sure where to put this.

Last saturday I had the pleasure of staying at the best campsite I have been to so far. It was located on NCN route 6 about 3 miles south of market harborough. I phoned the site before hand as with it being a bank holiday weekend it may have been full. I mentioned I was comming on a bike 110 miles and they said they would do me a sandwich when I arrived. When I got there I got a bag with a flask of hot water, a cup with tea bags, milk and sugar in it, a plate with a ham sandwich and a muffin. I then got a nice hot shower. All this for £5. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a camp in that area.

It's quite a new site, google maps just shows a field, I only found out about it when riding past a few weeks back and saw a sign.

Best I've been to was a small peninsula on Angle tarn, above Patterdale. Peace, quiet and a huge swimming pool. And free too.

Looks like you got almost perfect service. They may make a special effort if you arrive by cycle ? Their website suggests they have Caravan & Camping Club pitches.

Reminds me of arriving at a farm camp site on a filthy wet day when Mrs Uncle Phil and I were doing the Coast to Coast walk.

As we squelched into the yard, the farmer just nodded towards the lawn where there was another tent pitched and said "Milk and sugar?". When we'd got the tent up, he arrived with a big pot of tea on a tray (complete with tea cosy), and two mugs, with milk and sugar. He showed us where the shower was, took some money (about £3 I think) and we never saw him again.

Somewhere near Danby Whiske, I think it was.

The best setting for a camp site I have been to was a farm at Fionnphort, Isle of Mull. Almost on the beach looking over to Iona, perfect sunset (when the sun is shining).

Thanks Rich P, we are also touring in the region this summer so I'll mark those sites on my map!

I've also just bought a second hand Dawes Galaxy on ebay - can't wait to pick it up at the weekend - yay!
