Despite my gloom I echo the above post.

I just can't afford to keep something I won't really use. It's my fault and I know it. I should have bought a cheap second hand bike and tested the water but nope I jumped in head first and cocked it up. The bike is lovely and well made, nice to ride but not my sort of thing

I asked the shop and drew a blank so if the hit is as @screenman says then that's a third the price of a bike so anything new I buy be it CDF or datum is in effect £600 more expensive which makes it ridiculous so it's going to become a garage ornament that occasionally I will break out for a ride just to attempt justifying it sat gathering dust. I took little lad out today and we cycled to see his great grandma and then his mum drove him back home whilst I cycled back but did it all on the Genesis day one and much preferred the day. I can't afford to buy another bike that a prefer and nor would I do such a thing with a young family so I'm will maybe put better wheels in the day one disc and change the rear sprocket to a 16T and that's now the main bike of choice.
Mistakes are costly these days

Have a punt on eBay with a Buy it now with a best offer option set at the minimum you'd take, bearing in mind the 10% fee

Got to be worth a try rather than letting £1700 rust in the garage

I got the rust side covered, put ACF50 on all the nuts, bolts, derailleur, mechs etc. It could sit for years and not rust with that stuff on:okay:

Yes maybe, but you could also be enjoying a new bike while it isn't rusting

It isn't going to appreciate in value unfortunately

I've made some horrible and expensive mistakes in the past, cars rather than bikes (although I've probably lost a few k on those too), just got to move on in the end

Freeborn has some good deals on genesis

I've not heard of ACF50, what is it?
Can someone post a link please.

ACF50 is used on aircraft to stop corrosion especially from salt whilst on aircraft carriers. It's very popular amongst motorcycle owners as you cover the whole bike and it stops salt attacking and corroding it during winter. Simply wash it off in spring and looks like new. Very good stuff and a little goes along way. I apply to motorbike with a soft paint brush. Coating the whole bike from engine, forks, electrics....the lot.
Google ACF50 and manufacturers website will give you everything you need to know
