Lezyne Road Drive. It's got a flexible hose! Fixed head pumps are the spawn of the Devil.....unless you have some kind of pervy broken valve fetish..

I like the Topeak pocket rocket, solid, light, reliable 100psi is eminently doable with it and its a minute or so at the roadside to get enough air in to get you home if you don't want to pump it all the way up.

a manual pump, with the capability to use a 12gram threadless CO2 capsule [20 UMAREX for £10.99]
or a larger 16gr threaded capsule [20 for £17.95]

my idea is to use the manual, then 'top-up' with the CO2
i'll do a report if you're interested

looks similar to ones I have from Decathlon (Barbieri) but with better manual pumpin facility and with better control over gas release. A report once it arrives would be very welcome

Does Cav actually pump his own tubes?
AIUI when he has a puncture a bloke leaps out of an adjacent motor vehicle, runs to Cav's bike & changes the whole wheel faster than you can say "jobsagudun"
:pump:

Apparently the pump is to Cav's design and one he uses when on lone training rides. I tried to see if this was the case but I simply could not ride and throw tacks fast enough.
There are a limited number in existence as they call came with the Cavendish limited edition 100 win Venge.
I think its a great pump as a engineering design piece, it really is beautifully finished.
I have never used mine, I use a co2 pump and the Cav pump sits on a shelf in my bike room.

The criteria stated by the original poster was Best Road Bike Pump (portable) at no point was using it a requirement
The Cav pump is without a doubt the best finished and best presented portable pump on the market..Does Cav pump his own tires? - No Idea but if he has any sense he would not use this, he would keep it at home as a thing of beauty.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
If we are looking for the best looking pump I still like the Topeak Micro Rocket CB
3896
- probably not the best for function - think I would say Lezyne HP - but given it's size it is quite efficient, and it is very pretty!

i was told to deflate the tyre when home and refill with air -- cos Co2 leaks faster ...that's all i know.?

I still use a long aluminium Bluemels hand pump, the one with red, white and blue rings around it. Very efficient and easy to get plenty of pressure in the tyres. I have had it 30 odd years and still works as good as the day I bought it. I also have a Topeak mini pump, handy for the summer when I want to sit by the side of the road in the sunshine and waste half hour pumping up my tyres after a puncture.
