I didn’t say it’s the right thing to do but I’d far rather that than they try to squash me at a pinch point!
I’d never do it in a car. Nor on a bike if there are pedestrians

The sooner everyone is in autonomous car the better.

They'll just reprogram them to do it, like they disabled the DPFs

Honestly, it was the first time for me in tens of thousands of miles that I have had it done to me. I have seen plenty of cars do it in queues of traffic to perform a right turn, but never in free flowing traffic.
