The problem with indicators is the average road user quickly becomes reliant on them as a substitute for looking properly.

Situation 1

Oh look there is a cyclist
He has stuck his arm out-he is turning
I will slow down and let him come out

Situation 2
Oh look there is a cyclist
Why is he pulling out in front of me
I think I'll try and miss him
What is that flashing thing
Is that supposed to be an indicator
Since when did bikes have indicators
I wish he had put his arm out

Situation 3

Why did that road bump I just went over have a flashing light on it?

I actually made some for my CDT GCSE back in 1989/90 somewhere around that time. Never fitted them to my bike as I stopped cycling when I passed my test one year latter and didn't start again until 2010.

Ooo! Thats a cool idea. Tad on the expensive side though.

What if.. they made a glove that flashes when it detects lateral motion!?!
They probably do. I bought the jacket at a much reduced price at last year's cycling show. :shy:

Mm, i'm sure too. Wonder why it was much reduced.. Do you think it's weak to hold up against a tumble on the road? Some of those things look filmsy.
