I need to have the thread cut further down on a 1 inch fork. I guess that type of shop is allowed?
Yes, most bike shops have been open throughout, but busy so you may have to wait for a slot (unless you’re good pals with your lbs and they’ll slot you in ;) )

I emailed my lbs about 6 weeks ago hoping to book a bike in for a service. No answer so they'll not be getting any business from me.

Whereas mine have been fantastic as usual and have done several jobs for me :okay:
They were closed for the first month after lockdown maybe, but another stepped up

My LBS is fabulous. Local Bike Specialist - AKA me ! Done loads to my bike recently. New wheel bearings, new frame bearings, new matching Rock Shox Graphics, even managed to sell 3 bikes. ^_^

All good points. I'm no statistician, but are the countries with a 1m or 1.5m rule being called out as reckless? Are they experiencing a significantly higher transmission rate than the UK, Sweden and Canada (I think they're the only three saying 2m)

My own experience as a shop floor retail worker in a place where social distancing even at 1m is impossible, working as normal through March's packed panic buying and all through lock down... I haven't seen my colleagues coming down with the virus despite us all putting ourselves in 'the danger zone' for some three months now. I have, however, seen us go through hundreds of litres of hand sanitiser.
I don't have a simple answer to that! But perhaps:
there are loads of contributing effects that add up-to transmission.

( If Boris moves us to a 1m rule, I won't panic and go into self-isolation. I just feel it's a big step that shouldn't be taken lightly.)

DIY... bikes don't need servicing, just general maintenance !
Nah - my Tricross has been on the wall of the shed for nearly two years now, only off it a couple of times for wee spins. I'd like it stripped down, regreased, new cables etc. Also maybe change the brakes over into something more effective.

I need a pair of trainers but I'm not running to the shops

I was making a name plate for my kids bedroom, but there was only a queue.

Al booked his gravel bike in for some work that needs doing with our local 1 man band bike shop. Earliest he can fit him in is August!!

Absolutely. I once heard (on R4 again  ) that we're far more likely to catch the common cold from a mouse, mug or door handle than from someone sneezing in our direction.

As I understand it, the 1m / 2m thing is about coughs and sneezes rather than an invisible spherical viral bubble that encompasses the infected. (Happy to be corrected on that BTW).

The more likely scenario is someone coughs into their hand and the next people who handle what they've handled chews their fingers, eats a butty or rubs their eye before washing/sanitising their hands.

Wow. Even I could attempt if I had 7 or 8 weeks (although I’d have the August appointment on standby for when I mess it up )
