Bike Computer Problem

I got my cheap(£6.50) bike computer today, so I guess its my fault, but the problem is that I don't think I'm getting an accurate speed reading. I was going as fast as I could in 12th gear and it said my top speed was 22.5mph

Also when I go fast the display says I'm going all sorts of speeds! (4,9,2,16,4,12 etc..)

I guess the only thing I can do is try and use a stronger magnet, since the magnet it came with is as close to the sensor as I can get it.

Is there anything else I can do to make the readings more accurate?

Try and ensure your magnet goes CLOSE to the pickup. Nuff said.

ah the battery is starting to go already, I didn't think that would be a problem, but I'll change them as soon as I can.
