Some interesting feedback on the pros and cons of a bike fit. It's always going to be a personal decision and informed by your knowledge, experience etc. Having been out on a test ride on Saturday morning I was very happy with the result. For the first time in a couple of months I was able to ride pain free for more than an hour, plus my average speed was more than respectable considering my general lack of fitness and the miserable weather.
It has hopefully solved a specific problem and I will be able to take away my new found knowledge when new bike day comes around again.

Even the so called experts can get it soooo wrong. I travelled to Preston for mine as I had heard good things about this guy.
He was very thorough and made lots of changes.....including selling me a saddle.
It made no difference to the painful areas.
I then went to a LBS for some "better" shorts and explained the problem.
He set the bike on the turbo and said "with respect....I think he has got this all wrong".
He changed all the main things and loaned me a different saddle.
Bingo!! Next day I did a 68 miler and 2 days later another ride.
TBF the 1st guy was very good about it when I explained everything and gave me a full refund.
