Bike Pump Valve Extender [urgent]

My bike pump valve has gone inside the tire hole, so the pumper no longer gets a grip on it. Should I use a valve extender? Please Help!!!

Assuming the valve used to stick out the right amount, let the tyre down, press on the tyre behind where the valve is, so it pops out of the hole and connect your pump. If the valve has always been too short, buy tubes with the right length valve.

Just for clarity: buy, not but. It took me a few re-reads to figure it out but I am slow.
