Hi all

As I'm getting a new bike this year, I need to change my bike storage. At the moment I've got a wall bracket that my MTB (that I barely use) and the wife's bike hang on My day to day bike I just wheel in and lean against the wall.

What I really want is something that will take 4 bikes, using as little space as possible.

I'm thinking of this:

or this:

Or 4 of these:

I quite like the second one, as I could fit a shelf above it.
Are there any problems with those hooks that you hang the bike off from the front wheel?
Any other suggestions?

Cheers,
Ben

Here's a couple of threads which might be of use.

One of the comments made of the rack system to me, was that it hung them to close together and hanging them also means they twist.

yep, I decided against the preset rack systems, I found the wall hangers to be very good but have moved on again from there. Mainly due to my LBS having a refit so I nabbed a load of their racking free of charge. I have a horizontal pole in a framework now, but you could use something like a scaffold pole and just mount either end and middle if hanging enough bikes. Support can be into walls or ceiling hooks, very easy. For hanging the bikes get some butchers hooks and surgical tubing as a protector, use a vice to twist the s-bend hooks so that top and bottom are at right angles to each other.

The beauty of this is that you can vary spacing as it suits and also put extra hooks in between bikes to hang tyres, tubes, locks, panniers, etc.

I reckon you could get it all together, with 10 hooks, for no more than £20, a builder will let you have a bit of scaffold pole FOC.

Thanks @Crackle and @MacB.

I really don't have the time to do my own one with scaffolding and hooks.

The Mottez one does look like the hooks are too close to each other, so I think I'll use the Topeak ones x4 or something similar but a bit cheaper. They are good, as I can mount them at different heights.

Cheers,
Ben
