I'm used to putting some decent miles in on both my MTB and more recently, on my crosser.

I did 56 miles on the crosser a few weeks ago on NCN trails and still felt like I had plenty more miles left in me when I got home. I'm planning on using the crosser to do around 85-90 miles, again on NCN routes, as part of a short break away with the family at Whit week.

I'm seriously tempted to do the Northern Rock Cyclone (104 miles) in June, but never having done anything like this before, I'm not sure whether the crosser would be suitable for the event, or if it is suitable, will I be much better off swapping the Racing Ralph knobblies over to semi-slicks.

At this stage, I'm not bothered about a quick finish time, I just fancy the idea of the challenge miles and having something to train towards.

I was hoping to have a road bike some time soon, but we've found ourselves having to buy another car imminently, so funds are a bit tight.

Thoughts appreciated
