Good program but I was a bit annoyed with him every time he got out pots of dosh for the parts without trying to blag them (having given the maker a free advert).

Not sure what the naked student was to do with it but not complaining!

Yes it was a fascinating evening of bike programmes.I have some old footage from inside the Campag and Cinelli factories from the 1980's Horizon programme called the Green Machine.

Just watched about half of it on my phone on the way in to work this morning (ah MyPlayer on Android is a wonderful thing), although must admit haven't read this thread all the way through!

So apologies if this has come up before BUT ... the bit where he was in the US talking to the guy with all the amazing(ly heavy) looking 1950s bikes - does anyone know where to get those little wing motif things stuck out from the hubs? I MUST have some! Well, as long as they dont rotate with the wheel.

Apologies if this has already been banded about, I've just watched this one on iPlayer: 'Thoroughly Modern - 4.The Bicycle'

Documentary series about objects the Edwardians either invented or advanced. One of the most important inventions of all time, the improvements made by the Edwardians meant the bicycle allowed the city dweller to escape to the country, provided a truly democratised means of transport and is even credited with widening the gene pool.
