Well an average of 17mph is pretty good IMO.
That was my thought as well

There's something very childish and very funny about competitive commute cyclists.

I also love the idea that club cyclists go out on a ride to "defend their territory" by racing anyone they happen upon.

Very chuckle worthy. I might try it one day.
Oh, it's very silly indeed. The tricky part is finding a commute that also includes a swim and a run.

I usually get left in the dust by little old ladies on cast iron 3 speed shopping bikes heavily laden with two weeks shopping in the panniers.
I did blaze past a 5 year old kid on stabilizers once though. God that felt good.
These light evenings and the Summer holidays are great for little kids on BMX s wanting to race you, i've just spent 9 hours on my feet in a factory ..i know i shouldn't .go on then :heat:

Not at all, this ex-pat got his mph confused with Kph, me doing 25 mph uphill highly unlikely! Now corrected....
Oh, no. I was accusing @johnnyb47 of humblebragging, not you.

(yeah, I always seem to average well under 22kmh no matter how fast I cycle)

When I was commuting I did it in my work clothes and steel toe capped boots, I always used to try and resist the silly commuter racing, but usually ended up doing it.
