Here's the place to discuss and plan for 2018's Nations Cup.

A quick re-cap for anyone not familiar:

The event was first held last year. It is organised by a group of Danish bkoolers including Jacob Skovsgaard who's a bit of a Bkool legend! The organisation of the event is excellent (due to Jacob etc. doing it instead of Bkool themselves!). It consists of teams of 5 riders representing their nation in 3 back to back races - tge upcoming event is due to take place on Saturday 17th February (last time it was the morning and took around 3 hours).

Teams from Denmark, Spain and GB took part last year. The Danes rode together in a bike shop with a big crowd and free beer! It was covered by local TV as well. We Brits were slightly less ambitious and rode from home but were connected by bluetooth headsets via the Discord app so we could communicate during the race.

A special website was set up to record results and stream the live event.

It was very competitive and the Danes came out winners, with Spain second and GB third - so we can only improve!! Those who took part really enjoyed it and despite coming third we did put in some really strong performances and were proud of our efforts.

The plan is to hold a special qyalifying league to pick our best 5 riders for the team.....

Exciting news - looks like this year as well as Denmark, Spain & GB we may also have teams from Germany, Belgium, Catalonia, and possibly France!

I could ask Jacob if he could use his contacts at Bkool to advertise our qualifying league via Bkool GB 's facebook page to try and recruit a few more riders, what do you think? We could say participation has to be confirmed via this forum so could be a good recruitment tool for more riders for the regular chaingang leagues as well?

As long as there is a beer stop with pasties that's fine by me!
I think any league for this should be undertaken with a no ghost/bot rule undertaken on a solo basis, max two attempts unless bkool f it up, as this sways the possible result, whether it is slipstreaming or using it as a target time. Then the strongest riders will be selected, and will generally be a balls out ride.
In addition, last year's downhill stage was up and down rather than just downhill so that is important to consider when adding in stages.

Maybe a get together ride for the last stage in the velo? Obviously tactics are important there...

I know you are going for teams of 5. But you should suggest a squad system. Up to 8 or even 10 riders with the fastest 5 from each country scoring points. This could allow some of the specialist climbers, tt'ers etc a chance to score points for the whole squad. Or even have a rotation to bring in riders to the 5 who may be better suited/rested for the selected rides.

I watched it this year and there were a few fierce battles from all riders on all the stages.
