Sounds like a great deal - it doesn't sound like there are any electronic differences in the new version besides physical gear change buttons and the USB port.
The pedals in the video presumably are the included strap pedals. The stance might be reduced more using cleat pedals. And changing to straighter cranks as s2ook mentions.
