I do love a decent black pudding but, sadly, I've been served a dry and crispy version on occasion!! <barf>
Gimme a moist one any time.... , made moister by absorbing some egg yolk and bean juice.....

I don't mind it but it's a bit too blood 'n' guts for me.

I used to buy them from a chippy near Sauchiehall street in the early 1980's. Very nice in batter . Can't repeat on here what they were called...

We are lucky enough to live around the corner from a proper local butcher who sells traditional Bury black puddings which Mr K likes. I can't visit my parents in Hampshire without taking my dad a couple of them. My dad also appreciates the Eccles cakes that I take.

The deep fried battered black puddings sold in Darlington's chip shops were called 'donkey knobs'.

Without wishing to put a downer, on this tasty thread, the usual test for Bowel Cancer is checking for blood in stool specimens
However, in Bury, they can't test this way, as the local population eat too much Black Pudding for it to be considered a reliable test

Having it for tea, some prize winning stuff I got from the Cheshire Smokehouse. This evening it is matched with wild boar sausages, fried egg, croquettes and tomatoes. Black pudding and warm runny yolk are a perfect combination.
Sounds great!

Black pudding and a fried egg in a bap...used to be my choice at a carboot on a sunny sunday morning.
Must get some soon...
My breakfast of choice, if I run to work, & am on a day-shift, & the Canteens open

I was brought up on it, mostly blood and offlal, but it's good for you. I love it.
