Ashamed to say I bottled it this morning.

Had every intention of going out for a decent ride across the Peninnes this morning.

Managed the grand total of 8 miles before the freezing rain, and howling winds got the better of me. After I was blown sideways for the second time on the Isle of Sky road I decided I really wasn't enjoying this, turned round and came home.

No shame. Better safe than sorry. Sideways gusts are too dangerous. Gusty here too and I have just had a 4 mile dog walk instead. Always another day.

No shame at all; if I've got off my arse, got out on the road and given it a go I feel fine about turning around if it's too bad. I tend to feel bad if I haven't tried at all though...

There is a time to surf, and there is a time to wax your board. I'm not going out today because I've got a cold and I can't be bothered.

Weather forecast is better for later in the week, I hope we can all get out and about then.

Me too in Glossop. Forecast for this am was ok-ish so planned about 50 hilly miles. Took one look this morning and sacked it, sounds like I made the right decision

Who won the Polocini hill climb?

There were plenty of cyclists out today in north Bradford/Leeds and up to Bolton Abbey. Horrible weather though. Wet, windy and freezing cold.

I kept asking myself what possessed me to leave a warm bed and endure this. But then I was reassured that I was doing the right thing when I saw the many other comrades suffering likewise.
