No, it's now just a digital membership card.

Which for anyone organising races or racing is proving to be a pain.

Can you request a physical one. I had this issue with the British Mountaineering council with whom have a membership mainly for the 15 % discount at Cotswold outdoor. As I tend to buy most of my stuff at their shops it’s much easier to show a card than fart about on your phone trying to find your digital card. When I raised it they sent me a card out.
As I’m just a member of BC for the insurance so I would be tempted to say unless they send me a physical card I will go elsewhere.

Are they still sending membership card out ?

That's a shame!
It was a good (quite literal) 'card to show', in an argument with the 'grumblers'

Not currently, although they've commented they're working on doing a physical card on request. I'd have one just to make life easier sometimes rather than logging in digitally.

My gripe with the digital card is I pay for a race licence and they're needed if you race. Therefore imo for the extra that's charged a physical card should be provided.

I dont even think it saves costs, they werent even printing plastic cards in the end, just some recyclable something, that the print wore off anyway. Am I misremembering one time it was a bit of cardboard that you had to sign, and then hope you lined up the sticky back plastic to laminate it ?

but it simply pushes the cost into the pot labelled IT systems, and you can sit there and go aha but all your details are already on an IT system, so its a cost that already exists, but the point is who has access to it ? what security measures are in place ? how is the data stored ? where is the data stored ?

when its only member services who have access to all your details, thats very different to move to now anyone who runs a BC sanctioned event now needs digital access so they can confirm your digital id is valid against it.
