Broken Blackburn Mars 3

My 4 month old Mars 3 has stopped working. I can only take the back off and get to the batteries. How can I get to the workings and see what has come adrift ?
I can't be bothered to send it back as it would probably cost just over half what I paid for it in postage.

checked the terminals are all shiny?, not much to go wrong, be fair for the price, it's chuck and replace init?

for a tenner. And got a new D lock and chain for a bargain price as well.

Amazing what is for sale a non-cycle shops.
