Not sure what was going on here, there's not much room to get past, the light is on red, the car was pretty close to me when I noticed it.

Then to squeeze past the bus was crazy. I felt bad afterwards but I couldn't believe she was going to go past that bus and that the instructor was going to let her.

On a lesson, if it's a test the passenger will have a hi-viz jacket on and a clip board.
I take it they went left.

To be honest, there was plenty of space to the drivers left, mark the driver down for not knowing the size of their vehicle and not going up it in the first place.

Depends, my instructor didn't stop me from making all mistakes, but would point them out, probably afterwards when we stopped so we can chat about it.

Isn't that just a standard lane (to turn left)? And the bus isn't encroaching in the lane at all so should be perfectly wide enough for a car and bus to fit?

Probably too close to you at the start further back though I guess.

I dont have sound, but I'm not sure the distance between wing mirror and bus signals would particularly be appreciated by instructor or driver.

The "left turn lane" is like a long right angle triangle see how narrow it is before the end of the junction, not really a full lane at all. Yeah I felt bad about the distance thing but I was just gobsmacked they were going. Pretty sure my Driving Instructor wouldn't have let me do that.

Isit two lanes turning on the left? As middle lane can also turn left? If its single lane to the left then that area should be hatched?

Seems like a pretty crappy road layout. Poor confused learner!

Agree.

Instructor could have been explaining the size of the car too - perhaps the driver was struggling to measure distances so he showed her that there was room to fit a car through.

Ugh reminds me of minibus training. 'See that porsche? Reverse next to it please'

As useful as I find helmet cams, this wasn't fair on the driver, who's got herself into a situation where another road user is getting agitated and the instructor now has to keep her calm. Sure, 'must get to the line' can be irritating but the learner car was neither interfering with the cyclist or about to hit the bus.

It's been a long time since I passed my test but I think my instructor would have let me make the mistake then tell me later where I'd gone wrong. We had some pretty heated arguments along the way!

So if I'm understanding this correctly you see a young lady on a driving lesson (although you think it may be a test) it's possible she may be feeling a little nervous, (particularly if it was a test) the instructor (although you believe he may be an examiner) appears to be indicating that she has the room to proceed past the bus. Trusting her instructor/examiner she starts to make her way very slowly forward, to be confronted by....
An idiot on a bike, gurning, gesticulating, pointing to the camera on his head and sticking himself in the way in order to get a better shot of the cars number plate. To really top off the stupidity the footage is then posted to youtube, not a taxi driver are you?

What's with all the pointing at your helmet cam? Make righteously indignant gestures like that to me and id suffer a wave of overwhelming disinterest. Why get stressed? She's a silly bint - so what?
Why is she a silly bint?
