B'TWIN triban 5 Need new Derailleur & chain

I might as well get a new chain to go with it. Not sure about the sizes for the deraillieur and chain though! Prefer to buy them from wiggle. It was damaged slightly in the first place I knew I should have bought a new one but I learnt the hard way and had to walk 4 miles back home in clip-less shoes, How I enjoyed that walk back :/

as indeed I had to do - 40Km to go and a twig got caught in my chain and somehow took the rear mech into the wheel.......

Not familiar with the bike, but to replace would need to know whether double/triple (front chainrings, 2 or 3 of them), and how many speed cassette (back rings, how many of them). May also need to know back cassette range ie smallest cost number of teeth, and largest cog number of teeth.

T5 should be Shimano Sora 8 or 9 speed depending on whether you have the thumb levers or not.

I initially assumed the hanger had broken but looking closer it appears the mech itself has disintegrated. When fitting a new one I'd be inclined to fit a new hanger as well in case it's been weakened by the incident (the hangers are designed to bend or break easily to protect the frame from damage)

Sorry about that. By hanger I meant one of these: link. There are over 100 different designs so it would be best to contact Decathlon to find out which one suits your bike.

Sora is the spec of the drivetrain components and the 8 or 9 is simply the number of gears on your cassette.

Don't worry it all becomes second nature too quickly.
When did you buy the bike? Then we can tell you which gears you have.

Well I got it sorted, I got Decathlon to get some parts from the workshop where they build the bikes
