Two neighbours had a similar thing in our old place. The daughter of one of the families used to park outside the other family's house, it was a small street. So they bought another car, taxed and mot'd and left the car outside their house permanently. Costly solution to the problem ... in a cutting your own nose off sort of way. Both families were normal people.

Feck me, some of you lot are nobbers. And, for a change, I don't mean @Drago

That does not sound like normal to me.

I park on my drive but while doing some building work i had a delivery of ballast due early morning so i parked on the road over night . The drive had plywood covering it so the 5 ton of ballast could be tipped on that . Next door got home late and as i had taken " his space " he blocked my drive way .
The next morning i blocked his car in with 2.5 ton of ballast to the side of his car and 2,5 ton in front of it . A huge tree stopped him reversing . It took me nearly a week to move all that ballast

We have been in our house for 7 years now and my wife has always parked her car in the same place, outside our house. We live in a close so no traffic. The last 2 days, our next door neighbour has started parking in her place although he has plenty of space to park outside his house, which he did up to now. I am not one to give in to bullies so I am going to wait a couple of days just to see if he keeps doing it and if he does, confront him for an explanation.

Why does he want two parking spaces? It seems odd he has decided to take up two, Have you had some kind of dispute with him which might have made him act in this way?
I understand how you feel about this. It's the same around here some nights. We all seem to respect each others parking space even though we have no claim to them but sometimes one driver will take up two spaces. I once asked one why he'd started to park in front of his next door neighbour's. Because he plays his music loud. I knocked on the wall and he hammered back was the reply.

Cuchilo, Could you not have asked him to move the car? What would have happened if they had needed to use it for an emergency.

I was doing some house surveys in Harpenden about ten years ago and parked my van on a quiet residential road. Fifteen minutes after starting work, there was a loud honking from a car horn outside. The person who lived on the other side of the road had driven up and parked directly opposite my van, thereby blocking the road completely. The car horn was from a person in another car who wanted to drive down the road. The householder I was visiting told me that the neighbour did like "his" parking space. I went out and moved my van a few yards down the road so that the motorist could pass.

After completing my survey, I left an extremely rude note under the neighbour's wiper blade. There might have been some mention of the size of his penis.

You'll be glad you don't live in the same street as me then, if I want to park on the street instead of round the back of the house I'm likely to have to park the car in the next road.

My late father lived next door to a family of taxi drivers they used to box his old rover in bumper to bumper with two of there taxis he would go round and ask politely if they could back one up and let him out tbey just laughed and told him they would move them when they were ready ,I called round by chance and found he had been sitting in his coat for a hour waiting to go out so I went and knocked next door and asked what the problem was the big lardey head of the house told me to get off his property before they threw me off ,I phoned my brother straight away and we fetched ourbuilders pickup and tranny van and parked them bumper to bumper either side of the taxis ,I then took my dad to my sisters and left the truck keys there ,then went back to wait for the fireworks there were now 5 vehicles nose to tail imobilised in the street mr taximan was going nuts threatening allsorts said he was losing buisness cos he coudnt use his motors he then threatened to call the cops,I told him that was a good idea cos then we could discuss his bullying of a old man living alone.I went inside and waited and about 10 minutes later hesent his son round to knock on the door with ahalf hearted apology and could we please move the trucks I told him to send his old man round to sort it out and he eventually came round and promised it woudnt happen again and things had just got out of hand ,we never had any more problems with him .he was just feeble minded bully

I've just had a peep out my front window, Across the road there's about 5 cars virtually bumper to bumper staking a claim to their parking spaces, yet over here there's enough room for at least 4 cars.

Where I live everybody has a drive that will take at least 4 cars, but some of us still park on the road if we need to - we all pay to user the roads and nobody owns them, get used to it:smile:
