some companies attempt to add an aluminium brake track to carbon rims, which only partially solve the problem but brings about a far more serious problem. leave that aside for now.

I think we need to know as these are the wheels the OP is asking about. The ones i used have a carbon fairing, the only down side i have found is if it's really windy they can be a handful.

Yup the ones with the carbon fairing.

Typically these:-

I love cycling - but the downside is Im pretty crap at it ! - My asthma is pretty dire when measured in terms of peak flow - and really kicks on the climbs. If I average 15 mph on a 25 mile solo ride - Im pretty chuffed with that ! - I can't really justify big bucks on some wheels. Ive been out 3 years with a hip injury - so these would be my welcome back treat.

Sensibly those fulcrums that s-express suggested are more than enough for my needs - but the bling of the carbon deep sections is gnawing away at me !

[glad Im out this afternoon - Im expecting a sever ticking for liking those planet x wheels! }

* edit would go for the ones without the planet x logo..
