Anyone listening to this on R4 right now?

Yes - some sensible views, but some nonsense even from "I'm a cyclist" correspondents, e.g. "Should pay, say, £20 per year tax."
Currently resisting urge to phone in and tell them I'm willing to pay the same as a Toyota Prius owner, even though I cause a tiny fraction of their wear and tear on the road.

Indeed, but would only need to quote one to make the point, and I suspect the Prius would be the most familiar to the average Joe/Jo.

Anyway, I resisted the urge, and the program(me) has now finished.

I think the average joe/jo would be very surprised at how many 'car tax' free cars there are on the road.

Hard to say - most of it wasn't in any way a surprise, at least for any of us I would say. Some of it was downright annoying, as usual. The guy in the studio to give the cyclists' point of view seemed fairly good-natured and sensible. It was good to hear a discussion of cycling that was longer than five minutes and didn't degenerate into bad-tempered point scoring for once.
Thanks, TMN, I'll have a look to see whether it's up yet.

Edit: yes, it's here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0383wkf/You_and_Yours_Call_You_and_Yours_Cycling/

that's the difference between R4 and internet forums.

The 'low accident rate on Boris Bikes' was interesting... do you think their flashing light is a contributing factor, or as also mentioned on the program, because they're slow?
