Calling any Wagon Drivers.

I still need to do my CPC before the deadline this September.

There are no shortage of places close to me where I can do it, but my question is about the content.

I keep hearing things like, "It's a bloody licence to print money", "It's 35 hours of your life you'll never get back", and similar disparaging remarks.

I appreciate the reasons many drivers feel that way, but as I'm paying out hard earned cash for it I'd really like to get more from each 7 hours module than just a feeling that my life force has been drained.

So have any CPC'd drivers got any tips for me before I get myself booked on a course?

My advise, shop around, find the cheapest one and go with that..... if you know how to pole a wagon, and your digital tachocard..... they cant teach you nowt at all

Actually no, in fact I only passed last year but we've all been waiting at work to see what the gaffer was going to arrange, but nothings happened and I'm fed up of waiting now, so I'm just going to get it sorted myself.

OK I am going to learn something then I am 'only' class 2 and don't know 'how to pole a wagon', and our wagons are either digital tachos or even still an analogue tacho in one wagon, so I don't have a digi card at the moment either

Im only class 2 as well mate....... a pole is exactly that, spring loaded fits in a hole on the bottom and top to secure things in.digitachos are great, no messing around filling them in, drawling lines on paper ones and all that bolxxcs....... just slide yer card in and go

I'm doing part 5 of the course next week. I haven't learnt anything new, I have been using a digi card for a few years now and luckily work are paying for the course so all I have to do is turn up. I don't really mind as it's during work time so I'm getting paid to attend.

Cheers AB. I work for a drainage company and generally drive this Scania P cab, therefore I've not come across a pole yet, guessing you mean the vertical jobbies on a curtain sider? I know what you mean about the digi cards though, does my head in filling tachos in each day.

My company are also paying for mine to, and yes it is a licence to print money and that's a fact. The first CPC course I did was on the safe operation of vacuum tankers, the "instructor" didn't have a clue what the hell he was talking about as he had knew about petrol tankers. At the end of eight hours he congratulated me on successfully passing the first module.......muppet!
