only had experience of sram recently and all my previous bikes with gears have been shimano,

my old bike was bought second hand and in a more or less brand new condition after sitting in a heated garage for years, i got it when i was in primary 5 and im 31 now (360 quid bike for 75 quid only been used twice) and it is still going good, the shimano exage shifters and derailuers have took massive beatings over the years and still work awesome, even still got original cables on them and the shimano exage brakes and the ridgeback 602ex are still working very well and it is about 30 year old nearly same age as me with orginal components still on it lol

my rock rider 540 has sram x7 on the back and i put a shimano deore on the front to upgrade the altus it came with, they are both working flawless with sram shifters.

Much prefer campagnolo shifting, a lot smoother and faster when putting the foot down and a lot better.
