I was wondering when we thought up the number zero. And even to this day you can refer to a week as huit jours in French, presumably because modern maths hasn't triumphed over popular usage yet.

Yes, but if you work an eight day week you only have to work 41 weeks a year, and you get 5 days extra off work. Except for theft years, of course, when it's 4.
