PS I doubt there is food of any significance anywhere other than tips.
Kill the birds and others will come in to replace them, improve management of the tips and the problem is resolved.
All birds are beautiful and of great importance, its their planet too.
Are you serious? Rights for Birds?

Animals have no concept of ownership, teach them that they do and it will be inter species war for sure.

If they are inland kill them it will have no effect on the population at sea. As far as I am concerned herring gulls are only herring gulls if they live by the sea. Those who live inland are now a different species. I think they should have different name ....minging sea gulls for instance!

Indeed. Kill them all. Species go extinct all the time and have done for countless millennia. It makes no fecking difference.

Only hippie "delicate web of nature" flat earthers think otherwise.

Why shouldn't he be? It's a fair point. Just because we're capable of killing everything doesn't mean we should.

And I'm pretty sure that animals do understand the concept of ownership, though may not be as keenly developed as a human one

....but owls eat other birds and mice and shrews. Kill them all off I say.

I didn't mean that bit about killing owls.
Owls are supposed to eat mice and shrews.
Buzzards on the other hand;-
"Buzzards principally eat small rodents, but also take birds, reptiles, amphibians, larger insects and earthworms. Prey up to 500g is taken by active predation; anything heavier is usually carrion or seriously enfeebled individuals."
A flying Owl doesn't fit any of the above.
As we live in a man made world it is our duty to manage it.

Killing all seagulls is clearly a joke.

Anthropomorphising seagulls is daft. Like, stupid daft.

Don't get a red car. Supposedly they attract more bombing runs.
I'm not much of a bird watcher, but it's nice to see an increase in birds of prey in recent years. One flew in front of me at the weekend - surprised how big it was (whatever it was!).

I know - I was making a broader point, I suppose I should have been clearer.

Nobodies doing that.
Granting animals rights and ownership is anthropomorphising them.

You and the other poster are doing that.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion, so bon chance!
