The Sony ones are among some of the most innovative IMHO. The exploding paint one - they used real paint! They used Jimi Hendrix in one ad and FSOL in another...

Also, remember a claymation ad that used Shaggy's Mr Boombastic, can't remember what the product was tho'.

Hmmmm...I rest my case. The Sony ones were good, but they're ancient. The Honda's brilliant too - one of a number of winners they've done - but again, they date back to the stone age. I guess it is just all about budgets. *sigh*

Perhaps someone can remember who's this was and put me out of my misery...
Early 80's maybe...there was a series of ads that just got bigger and bigger and culminated in a scene of a man walking and talking to the camera through a town...as he walks and talks he gathers more and more followers...the crowd gets bigger..marching on and on, though fields etc, his talking becomes louder till he's shouting (about the product, whatever)...eventually it ends with them all marching up to the white cliffs of dover...jet planes fly over...vehicles with them (IIRC) and he's shouting over the channel to the frenchies (i presume) 'C'MONNNNNN THEN'

Its always bugged me what the ad was...very powerful, funny and memorable...just wish i knew what the hell the product was

And staying on the subject of fruity drinks, this is my current favourite ad...
