Can you tell a bike by it's frame?

There seem to be many types of bike now available that to me at least seem to overlap (Is it a hard tail 29er or a hybrid? Is it a commuter or a cross bike? Is it any one of several sub species of MTB? Is it a road bike or a race bike?)

And I'll be honest, bike geometries all look much the same to me, although I know they are not. So I leant my bikes against the hedge and took pictures of them, and then traced the frames. I've left out the hangers and the forks. I wonder if you can tell me what sort of bike each one is just from it's frame shape?
