Cannondale Six13 Advise

Hi All,

I see you guys are swamped with enquiries so I appreciate your time and advise.

i have been offered a Cannondale Six13 Team Saeco Replica and i am looking to see if the price would be correct

Specs I know of are :
Mavic Aksium race wheels
Shimano 105 derailleur & shifters
Carbon SI crank
Carbon bottle holders

The bike is owned by a colleague and has genuinely been barely used and is spotless .

He is asking £350 firm.

I am new to road cycling and at this stage I don't want to jump in too deep and end up £1000's in to a new bike. The bike is the correct size for me as we are identical and the bike was purchased new around his specs.

What are your thoughts ? Is it priced correctly

Regards
Chris

No, it's way too expensive, you should give me his details so I can give him a piece of my mind!

It's a ridiculous bargain (carbon bottle holders notwithstanding)

Blimey... The wheels alone are normally well over £100 and my (much older and not quite so good) Cannondale CAAD 5 frame/forks set me back £500 when I bought them about 12 years ago. You've got a bargain there!

pedals and shoes next....at that price, you can afford to treat yourself

It came with some basic pedals but I am thinking I might get the shimano double sided pedals because I have never ridden with clips.

I am also a size 13 so finding shoes is quite a task.

Any suggestions on shoes and pedals would be welcomed.

The best value Shimano SPD pedals are probably the M520s, which I have on all 3 of my bikes. They are nominally mountain bike pedals, but they work perfectly well on road bikes.

Tip #1: Set the release tensions as low as possible to make it easy to unclip while you are getting used to them. (You can always increase the tension later, though I never bothered to on my pedals.)

Tip #2: Make sure that you carry out tip #1 on both sides of both pedals ... I missed one side of one pedal on one bike and got my foot stuck!

Thanks.

They are the ones I have been looking at but shoes in my size seem to be the issue.

I am looking for more of a touring style shoe where the sole overlaps the clips so I can alternate between the sides of the pedals until I am more in tune with being clipped in.

It was so much easier as a kid with my Raleigh burner and puma trainers. All this equipment I am now looking at starts to double the price of the bike before it has even turned a wheel.
