Sorry to hear that, can't be easy raising a family. I suppose it's just life and you may have to put cycling on the back burner until you have more time to yourself. Priorities and all that.
I have had it planned since yesterday , planned to go out before mrs ck went to work but she was late getting up and cant leave young kids , then plan was to go out but im farked and up at 5 .15 am for ride to work .

I know how you feel, being a Dad is a busy role if you're doing it properly and it's often hard to find any remaining energy and / or time for riding. I had one of those days yesterday which was my one available riding window this weekend... I think we all get those days from time to time.

Yep, its not easy. The only way you can look at it is to know that there are people with disabled kids that will never 'grow up'. At least you can look to the future and see days where you'll have more time rather than an eternity of the same old thing. But I do hear you, its not easy, and we're in more-or-less the same boat at the moment.

Think of the commute. All I do is commute :O

I would love to be able to commute by bike then I would get many more miles in. I too am terribly afflicted by children ^_^ and usually do my rides on Sunday morning while they sit about in their Jim jams watching TV and mainlining shreddies. With their mum upstairs supping the tea I have brought her.

I'm the same. Kids are such a sacrifice sometimes.

Don't worry CK. I have 4 days off at a time due to shift patterns but still often fail to fit in a leisure ride on those days due to family commitments/lack of energy/chores/carp weather etc. At least I enjoy my commute and when I do fit in a leisure ride on a weekday it is all the more special.

Can definitely sympathise with this, have struggled with time for cycling plus alot of other things since becoming a dad, it's only normal to have that can't be bothered feeling sometimes - I'm sure we all wouldn't change our families for the world though

Not everyone has unlimited hours in which to ride.

I see and hear of guys putting in 200 plus miles a week. That might be 4 x 50 mile rides a week at let's say 3 hours a pop. How they do it I don't know.

The only free day i have is Sunday and then it's only the morning. Through the week by the time I've got in from work in find it an effort to go out it takes a lot of motivation. If I do get out its an hour a couple of times a week.

Cycling is to me just one of the many things I try to cram into a week. To be honest if I had unlimited time to ride I think i would soon get bored of it.

Totally understandable, cycling should be something you enjoy, not something you have to force time for like some demented gym bunny. I have times when I think "sod this for a game of soldiers" and take the car, and times like tonight where I get itchy feet at 9pm and tuck a quick 30km under my belt. It doesn't matter either way because it balances in the end.

I don't enjoy chores which is why I have a dishwasher - don't let cycling become your chore.
