On a forum for people with an interest in cycling, there will always be some who have had a friend or acquaintance killed by an irresponsible or incompetent driver. I think that has to be borne in mind if a segment of its membership appears to be rabidly anti-car.

All this rabid fervour demonstrates is a detachment from reason.
Let's be honest, most of us have a car in the household, or have access to one.

In all honesty, when attempting to educate an idiot driver in how to conduct themselves around cyclists, what approach would be more likely to work - the ranting foaming one (can be difficult when you have been squeezed out I know), or a calmer common sense approach which is coherent and reasoned ?
