Carbon assembly paste/gel.

Morning all,

Can the above be used on ally to ally interfaces and steel ally etc aswell as carbon.

I have an ally seatpost going into an ally frame with a bit of slippage.

Would this cure it?

Ok now I know I can use it on all materials I have a further question. Reading into it suggests that some brands have a larger grit element in the mixture which can visibly damage surfaces. I assume this gives more grip against a brand with smaller grit elements. So it would seem a trade off between effectiveness against possible scratching/damage.

Anyone care to offer some advice/ insight on this and maybe a recommended brand?

I use it on alloy-carbon and alloy-alloy contact points whether rightly or wrongly it does the job.

Surely if it's something you need to be gripped then any damage will always be covered anyway so cosmetically it wouldn't matter.

The mtb saddle goes up and down dependeing on the trails.

Ultimately, it depends what is more important - potentially scratching/scuffing the largely unseen area of a seatpost (show me a used seatpost which is un-marked), or having a seatpost which won't stay still.

Indeed, I have a quick release. My research sugests plenty of people use it on dropper posts too. I know not of their workings.

Yep. Ive grip pasted my dropper also, never really need to touch it

The Giant one is one of the better cable operated affairs

I never bothered and have had no slippage , carbon seat post to carbon frame.
