20th would be difficult for me. 13th or 27th are ok.
20th, then? I'm in Scotland on the 26 and travelling to Wales from Glasgow with a bike...well.
Can we have a poll or something? I don't want to have to choose between Banjo and Crockers! Banjo is a lynchpin of the South Wales CC contingent and Crockers is a star cos he comes from miles away to drink beer and ride a fixie up mahoosive Welsh hills.

Blimey - keen! You're way ahead of me - I haven't much of a clue. Ideal start in terms of the ride would be Abergavenny, but I'll have to look at the logistics. Newport is a possibility. And yes an early start would be good so getting yourself Walesward on Thursday night would make sense. Rich's birthday is a nice idea but is slightly trickier for me than the previous week. But I can probably get away with it. We need a bit more feedback from other peeps. @lukesdad? @Banjo? @pubrunner? @User13710? @Cheshire Celt? @Doseone? @HLaB? @User482? @515mm?

If C of G is definite for 20th then make it the 20th.My work is unpredictable this time of year. I would hate to stop someone else attending then not be able to attend myself.

I should be able to rearrange thinhgs if needed.

Just run thro' the thread what's all this nonsense about pubs at the end of the ride ? You've spent far too much time riding with the soft SE nobbers TC !
Can I be a wusser and propose we start near where someone can give me a bed/floor and take me to a pub on the Thursday? Hahaha. I like company. I can book a B&B but, you know, a small room by myself in Newport for example will mean I shall need to self-medicate on an industrial scale. I will now do no more wussing for the time being.
FTFY.

Abergavenny as start point? And what sort of time? Having consulted the timetables, I could get there for 9.30 (I'd rather not take two days leave for this if I can help it).

Newport is a more sensible start, I think, Stu. Cheaper and easier to get to and better bike capacity on trains.I've not got time to to firm up the details just yet, but I'm sure I can sort Thurs night digs for peeps coming from afar. It'll need to be a reasonably early start - probably more like 8.30. We might be looking at a 100-plus miler with a couple of different bailout options for anyone needing to get a train home that night...

OK. I'll be needing to see about some days off anyway. Trying to get the Thursday off as well seems the best option as the only train that'll get me there for 8.30 is £117....(moot point if Friday's not possible anyway).

Those using the mainline will probably ok as the trains run late. One thing to be aware of for people staying over and heading east on the Saturday is there appear to be engineering works on the 28th - it's a bus replacement service to Bristol, and London trains are going via Stroud.
