Carradice Bagman Utility - anybody tried one?

Has anybody tried one yet? I keep thinking about a Bagman, and the little attachment points on this look useful, but it's quite a lot more money than the normal Bagman.

While saddle manufacturers continue to neglect to include saddlebag loops, we're limited to this sort of thing. It's quite pricey for the sake of a couple of loops even if you like chrome. I must be old, but loops were the sort of thing you took for granted on a saddle at one time even if you didn't use them.

I used to use a QR saddlebag frame by Karrimor (pretty much the same as the Carradice one) for years, but despite liking the convenience and traditional look eventually started using a rack top bag. It was a lot slimmer and easy to fit in a garage crowded with other bikes.

I also once had a Thorn bag raiser which clamped to the seat tube and gave you somewhere a bit higher to attach a saddlebag if you were a bit short, or had a loopless saddle, though it was a bit clunky, only about £25.00 at the time though.

When I bought a used Brompton a few years ago, the saddle came with plastic bag loops. I wonder if they still do?

Not sure it would be any better than the standard Bagman really.
And it's only rated for 6kg rather than 10kg of the standard (wonder why).
Strange materials description of "high grade metal" then says 304 Stainless Steel, then "chrome plated for corrosion resistance" 🤔
The strap loops might be handy but would be handier if there was a bar with loops across the lower front so you could run straps or bungees to hold dry bags etc. As it is the strap routing would be a bit weird.

I have a couple of bagmen in sport and expedition sizes. They do the job ok but they act as a lever against the saddle rails when you have a full saddlebag. I found my saddle slipping slowly backwards on my last trip. Something that clamps to the seatpost might be better, or if the drop works just letting the bag rest on a rear rack can be effective, if not as as elegant. I’m not sure how I’d use the extra loops with saddlebags.

I have the bagman sport quick release that's fine apart from the two side locking bolts have to be re-tightened occasionally ;the qr is good for taking the bag off when stopped our swapping to another bike.

Notice they have seemed to have stopped selling the extra support bars now.
