Carrying spare tube, and puncture stuff

Hi all,

I just wondered on peoples preference as to carrying the above whilst out on their bike. I am not talking about commuting, just leisure road cycling. Personally, I just shove a spare tube, puncture repair kit, tyre levers and a pump in my jersey pocket, but this faffing around has started to irritate me. I used to have a small saddle bag, but that used to rattle around loads. If I could find a neat flattish little bag that I could put it all in (except the pump), and then just stuff it in my jersey pocket it would be great. Does such a thing exist, other than a kitchen ziplock bag?

Small under the saddle pouch, 2 tubes, levers, multi tool, latex gloves, all nice and tight with no rattles. All bikes are equipped the same ready to ride.

I use a saddle bag reinforced with cable ties with a repair kit, spare tube, leavers, multi-tool and a chain tool in it with a mini pump on the frame always there when I need it

I carry my stuff on the bike but for your purposes a zipped fabric pencil case sounds ideal, might even take a mini pump too

I've got a wee undersaddle bag (a Bontrager that sits on a clip type thingy) that holds a spare tube, puncture kit, multitool and a few spare AAAs and it's all crammed in with no rattling about. Pump sits on a bracket on my seat tube. Money, keys, mobile and my e-fag go in a pocket. That's my "out for a jolly" set up anyway.

On the ride to work I carry a rucksack which is full of biccies, comics and all sorts of junk.

Lidl do a small saddle-wedge bag complete with tyre levers, repair kit, and multitool for £4.99. You can cram in a spare tube, some batteries and a phone too. My pump goes on the frame. The bag isn't weatherproof, but the batteries and phone go in a ZipLoc freezer bag.

Each of my bikes has a permanent little saddle bag by Scott, which hangs off a neat W shaped clip that makes removal quick and easy. I paint over the Scott logo with black marker pen. Each bag contains a mini tool, inner tube, two tyre levers and a chain link. Mini pump and £2.99 cycling phone go in jersey pockets, the phone wrapped in cash in a plastic bag.

Note that purists will tell you that a saddle bag, no matter how small, is a fashion faux-pas and that everything should be stuffed in jersey pockets or, at worst, a fake drink bottle. But I don't care.

Snap. Only carried co2 until recently when I had a flat and found the canister didn't pump a 25mm tyre up completely. With only one more canister I had to ride it soft for the rest of the ride. So Leyzne pumps on special with Sportpursuit and a tenner referral money meant a skinny little frame pump cost me a tenner.

Saddle bags may be a fashion faux pas but when you are using both bottle holders and jersey pockets full of food for a long ride there isn't much choice. I use a Top Peak mini with a cable tie round the straps to stop the rattle.
