What a numpty!
I overtook a lady who had a rather nice floral mug full of tea in her right hand. She had a plate with cake on it, settled on her lap. I thought she was a bit over the place when she went round a roundabout ahead of me and when I overtook her, I could see why. 1 handed driving does that.

She wasn't driving really slowly. I was on a motorbike. I did slow down and have a long hard look at her before deciding that getting right out of her way was a great idea.

Out of interest what are the legalities of eating a banana whilst riding on the road? If caught would a fine be handed out etc?

I had an ex who used to eat his lunch (with a fork) whilst driving a work van . Not as bad as one of my old colleagues who was driving me somewhere driving with his elbows because he had a cigarette in one hand and mobile phone in the other. I was quite a nervous passenger that day!
I have to admit I have eaten whilst driving, but only chocolate or a sausage roll, nothing that involved two hands or I couldn't put down easily. The latter I only did once, my car ended up covered in pastry

Yet having a piece of rolled paper wrapped round some dried leaves which are then set fire to is quite legal to drive with.

There is an offence of careless and inconsiderate cycling with a similar evidential burden to that of the offence involving mechanically propelled vehicles.

In each offence the act of eating a banana/bowl of cereal/smoking would have to be shown to have caused the riding/driving to fall below the standard you would expect of a reasonable and competent rider /driver.

In broad strokes, it's not an offence in its own right but if you caused an accident or significantly impacted on the safety of another road user because you were stuffing a pop tart it would be considered careless and potentially you could be prosecuted.
